Presentation
Ideally located near the village of Fare, the Maitai Lapita village is bordered by a natural lake and a beautiful white sandy beach. The ancestors of the Polynesians founded the village of Lapita on this site. A people of potters and fishermen, they left numerous traces and archaeological artefacts, which are now on display in the hotel: pots and dishes, as well as fish hooks, puzzles and coconut graters. Stay at the Maitai Lapita and you’ll discover a part of Polynesian history.
Accomodation
Maitai Lapita Village offers 32 spacious bungalows in three categories: Garden Bungalows, Premium Garden Bungalows and Premium Lake Bungalows which benefit from their own individual private pool. All the architecture of the hotel and bungalows is based on the theme of this ancient village and the remains found there: bungalows with roofs reminiscent of the shape of dugout canoes, replicas of furniture used in the past, such as the seat of the adventurer Omai, whale bones, etc. In the midst of this slice of history, you will stay in a spacious bungalow with all modern comforts and a terrace. The décor is of the highest quality, the garden is relaxing and the lake invites you to relax.
Restaurant
Maitai Lapita Village’s Omai Restaurant invites guests to experience a delicious blend of local and international cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it offers dishes prepared using fresh, local produce, including seafood, lagoon fish and tropical fruits. The restaurant’s setting, with its panoramic view over the lagoon and decor inspired by Polynesian culture, creates a warm and friendly atmosphere. For a moment of relaxation, the hotel bar offers a selection of tropical cocktails to enjoy by the pool or watching the sun set over the lagoon.
Activities
The Maitai Lapita Village offers a multitude of activities to satisfy guests’ desire for escape and discovery. Snorkelling enthusiasts can explore Huahine’s exceptional seabed, while lovers of Polynesian culture can visit the hotel’s archaeological museum, dedicated to the history of the island and the Lapita, the original inhabitants of the region. Kayak trips on the lagoon, hikes in the surrounding mountains or boat tours to discover the neighbouring motu (islets) complete the offer. For a moment of relaxation, the infinity pool surrounded by tropical vegetation is an invitation to unwind, in perfect harmony with the natural beauty of the island.
