Présentation
A sacred birthplace of Maohi culture and once a major religious center of Eastern Polynesia, Raiatea holds a truly unique cultural and spiritual presence. Located 130 miles northwest of Tahiti, the island shares its exceptional lagoon with neighboring Taha’a, creating a setting of remarkable natural beauty.
The Raiatea Lodge Hotel, a charming 3* property, stands out for its distinctive colonial style and one-acre tropical garden on the island’s west coast. Just five minutes from the airport and ten minutes from downtown Uturoa, the hotel combines convenience with an authentic island atmosphere. Sheltered from the prevailing winds, it offers sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and breathtaking sunsets over the Pacific Ocean.
Accommodation
Featuring refined interiors with beautiful wood finishes, the Standard Rooms open onto either the lagoon or the lush tropical gardens from their private terraces, while the Lagoon View Rooms offer unobstructed views across the turquoise waters. Renovated in 2020, all rooms combine modern comfort with a distinctly Polynesian atmosphere. Located on the ground floor, the Family Suite features a spacious living area, two air-conditioned bedrooms, and peaceful views over the swimming pool and tropical gardens. The independent Double Bungalows, facing Bora Bora, and the spacious Family Bungalows, overlooking Motu Miri Miri, each feature a generous private terrace and a true sense of island privacy, all enjoying stunning views of the lagoon.
Restaurant
The Raiatea Lodge’s gourmet restaurant, celebrated for its tropical setting and relaxed atmosphere, owes much of its reputation to Chef Romain Leonard. Trained in France at Michelin-starred establishments and in Ireland at restaurants awarded two to three AA Rosettes, he further refined his culinary expertise before making his way to French Polynesia. His philosophy is simple: to bring out the best in local flavors through traditional techniques and a genuine homemade approach. Lagoon fish, bluefin tuna, and New Zealand meats are thoughtfully combined with Mediterranean and Polynesian influences to create a distinctive culinary experience.
Breakfast is another signature of the lodge, featuring freshly baked pastries, crisp artisan bread, homemade preserves, and locally sourced tropical fruits. In the lounge bar, colonial-style armchairs create an inviting setting, while local producers take center stage through refreshing fruit-based cocktails made with rum from Taha’a.
Activities
The hotel offers a selection of complimentary activities, allowing guests to make the most of its exceptional surroundings. These include kayaking to Motu Miri Miri and its white-sand beach, bicycles, snorkeling directly in front of the hotel, and access to the swimming pool.
For those wishing to explore more of the island and its spectacular landscapes, a variety of activities are also available at an additional cost, including ATV and 4×4 excursions, jet ski tours, scuba diving, and guided island tours. Massages are also available, providing the perfect complement to a relaxing Polynesian getaway.
