Craftsmanship
A very dynamic craftsmanship providing creations of infinite diversity
Polynesian craftsmen are able to produce genuine wonders out of all that the abundant nature of the islands can offer of fibres, flowers, pearls, shells and perfumes … The inspiration that guides their creation is striking: painted pareus, (sort of sarongs), crowns made of flowers and leaves, tifaifai (sort of colourful blankets made of assembled pieces of patchwork), fine baskets, hats or bags from the Austral islands (made of young coconut leaves or bleached bamboo), “pe’ue” (braided pandanus mats), along with shell or coral jewellery … You will be amazed to see the infinite variety of these magnificent creations at the Papeete market, in Curios boutiques and in some jewelleries …
